The Surat Thani Airport to Koh Samui route is the most affordable way to reach Koh Samui by air from anywhere in Thailand. Budget airlines like AirAsia, Nok Air, and Thai Lion Air fly to Surat Thani Airport (URT), where connecting bus+ferry services take you to Samui in approximately 3.5 hours. The joint ticket includes an air-conditioned bus transfer from the airport to Donsak Pier (about 1.5 hours), followed by a high-speed catamaran crossing to Samui's Nathon Pier (about 1.5 hours). This is significantly cheaper than flying directly to Samui Airport (USM), which is served only by Bangkok Airways.
